Iranian athlete Zahra Zarei stated that her main goal is to participate in the Olympic Games. She won a silver medal in the 400-meter race at the Asian Games in Aithi-Nagoa 2026 on Saturday.
Zarei shared her feelings after the victory, noting: 'I feel very good and happy right now. I am proud to have won this medal for my country, and I will try to improve my performance in the future.'
Speaking about future plans and participation in the Olympics, she emphasized: 'I have set myself the goal of participating in the Olympics from this moment, and I will strive to get better day by day and earn my place in the Olympics.'
Furthermore, Zarei commented on her competitor from Bahrain, Salwa Nasser, who won the gold medal. The athlete noted that Nasser has African descent, which complicated the competition for Asian runners. She also mentioned that Bahrain granted this athlete citizenship and observed that most runners from Bahrain have African origins.
The silver medalist in the 400-meter distance concluded her comments by dedicating the medal to the people of her country and expressing hope that the award pleased them.
