Three representatives of the national chess team of Uzbekistan won individual medals at the 46th World Chess Olympiad, which was held in Samarkand.
Nodirbek Abdusattorov won the gold medal, Nodirbek Yakubbaev won the silver, and Javohir Sindarov won the bronze.
Abdusattorov, who played on the first board, finished the tournament with a gold medal in the individual standings. Yakubbaev, who played on the third board, secured the silver. Sindarov, who played on the second board, took third place and received the bronze.
Thanks to these achievements, three Uzbek chess players entered the list of individual medalists of the Olympiad, contributing to the success of the Uzbekistan team at the home tournament.
Asrorjon Omonov, representing Uzbekistan, could not win an individual award. Despite having a significant advantage in the final game, he ultimately lost to an opponent with a lower rating.
In the team standings, Uzbekistan won the World Chess Olympiad for the second time in its history, finishing the tournament with a score of 20 points.
