Citizens who need to visit a bank should pay attention to this news, as a three-day bank strike will begin in the country on Monday. This action was organized by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
As a result of this three-day strike, which will last from October 28th to 30th, all banking services may be affected. Customers across India may face difficulties accessing services at branches throughout this period.
UFBU initiated the strike over a number of demands, but the most important one is the implementation of the 5 Day's Work Rule. Currently, bank employees are given off days on the second and fourth Saturdays, while other Saturdays are working days.
The three-day nationwide bank strike, scheduled for September 28th to 30th, may have a significant impact. In addition to the demand for a five-day work week, other demands include changes to pension provision. To minimize the inconvenience caused by the three-day closure of banks after weekly weekends on Saturday and Sunday, public sector banks opened their branches on Sunday, September 27th, so that customers could handle their urgent matters.
Public sector banks constantly informed their customers through messages sent to registered mobile numbers, warning about the strike and advising them to complete all necessary tasks at the branches before the protest began. Operations that may be affected by the three-day strike include cash deposits or withdrawals, check transactions, document submission, and KYC procedures.
Although branch-related operations will be suspended during the strike period, many important banking services can still be performed remotely. This is because digital and online banking, as well as ATM services, may continue to function. Thus, cash withdrawals and obtaining other services can be done using an ATM. Furthermore, bill payments or interbank transfers can be made using UPI. Checking account balances and using online money transfer services will remain available without interruption. However, it should be noted that cash availability at ATMs may be disrupted during the strike.
