The central government of India conducted an administrative reorganization, assigning new responsibilities to ten officials. Among these appointments was Mandip Bhandari, who was approved as the new chairman of the CBSE. His appointment was endorsed by the ministry's appointment committee, which published the relevant orders through the Ministry of Personnel.
Bhandari, an IAS officer from the AGMUT 2001 batch, currently serves as the Chief Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite his achievements, his profile draws attention as someone who will be involved in resolving student complaints.
Bhandari's appointment comes at a time when numerous grievances have arisen regarding the CBSE's Online Marking System (OSM), which was slated for implementation in 2026. Consequently, the central government has also formed a special commission to investigate issues related to the procurement of services associated with the digital assessment system.
According to the order of the Cabinet Appointments Committee (ACC), new duties were assigned to ten senior officials from various ministries and departments across the country. This list included senior staff associated with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Ministry of Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Water Resources.
Mandip Bhandari is an IAS officer, a 2001 graduate of the AGMUT batch. He recently worked as the Chief Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He possesses over 25 years of work experience.
Mandip Bhandari received his medical degree (MBBS) from Punjab University in Chandigarh and from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. He is also a gold medalist in the MBBS specialization, but later decided to dedicate himself to the administrative service.
Throughout his 25-year career, Bhandari held several positions. These include roles such as Junior Secretary, Private Secretary to the Minister, Additional Executive Director, Deputy Controller, Additional Developer, Additional Secretary, and Chief Administrative Director.
