The electric scooter segment is experiencing one of the highest growth rates in the market, excluding three-wheeled electric vehicles. Monthly sales of electric scooters are increasing, and in the first five months of the 2026-27 fiscal year, companies demonstrated impressive results in the domestic market. The growth of this segment year-on-year was 114 percent.
In the first five months, 791,325 electric scooters were sold in India. Regarding exports, overall for the segment of scooters manufactured in India (including ICE and electric models), a 34% growth was noted, with the total volume of exported scooters reaching 358,993 units.
Specifically for electric scooters, exports showed a colossal growth of 450% year-on-year. Between April and August 2026, companies exported 15,418 electric scooters, compared to only 2,807 units sent in the same period last year. This figure indicates growing demand for Indian electric scooters in foreign markets, which is happening against the backdrop of rising fuel prices in many parts of the world.
