To increase income and strengthen the financial position of food producers, agricultural producer organizations (FPOs) are constantly taking new steps. In Khapur, the Gram Vikas Farmer Producer Company (FPO) effectively unites farmers and helps them directly access the market with their agricultural products.
Established in 2019, the FPO aims not just to sell raw materials but to connect farmers with processing, added value, packaging, and proper marketing of their harvest. Currently, about 450 farmers from approximately 15 villages in Khapur have joined this organization.
Lallat Tyagi, the head of the FPO, reported that the farmers' agricultural products undergo processing and are brought to the market as finished goods. Various products are produced under this activity, such as gud (molasses), refined flour, multigrain flour, besan, various spices, and pulses.
Lallat Tyagi emphasized that if farmers engage in processing their products instead of selling them raw, they can receive a significantly higher price on the market. Furthermore, the FPO provides farmers with fertilizers, seeds, and agrochemicals, and also trains them in advanced agricultural practices.
Farmers are also involved in agricultural fairs and government events so they can better understand market needs.
Kavita Sirohi plays a key role in the local sale of these goods and in managing the shops. Shop operator Kavita Sirohi states that customer demands are being met by providing all clean agricultural and food products. Special attention is paid to product purity and packaging quality, which helps maintain buyer trust.
This establishes direct contact between local farmers and consumers, giving new recognition to regional produce.
Nakul Tyagi, who came from Web City in Ghaziabad for shopping, highly praised the FPO's products. He noted that his shopping experience there was very positive, and the product quality was exceptionally high. He added that modern buyers pay great attention to cleanliness and packaging when making purchases. If local farmers continue to bring high-quality products to the market, consumer interest in them will grow rapidly.
Gram Vikas FPO collects, sorts, processes, and packages farmers' products, delivering them directly to the market, thereby opening up new avenues for employment and income in rural areas.
