In some areas of the national capital Delhi, the weather changed sharply after light rain on Saturday. The precipitation has led to a drop in temperature, which brought some relief from the heat for residents. The meteorological department issued a yellow warning regarding rain in Delhi for Saturday.
According to forecasts from the Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi on Sunday will be 30–32 degrees Celsius, and the minimum will be between 21 and 23 degrees. On Saturday in Safdarjung, the minimum temperature reached 23.2 degrees Celsius, which is 0.7 degrees below normal. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was 29.2 degrees Celsius, which is 3 degrees below the average daily temperature.
A similar drop in temperature was recorded at many weather stations in the capital. For example, in Palme, the maximum temperature rose to 28 degrees Celsius, which is 3.2 degrees less than on Friday. A decrease in temperature was also noted on Lodhi Road.
In most parts of the capital, the temperature dropped by 2–3 degrees on Saturday, significantly easing the heat. According to the meteorological department, 0.2 mm of precipitation fell in Safdarjung between 14:30 and 17:30 on Saturday, and 0.5 mm on Lodhi Road.
According to a senior IMD official, clouds were usually over most of the capital on Saturday, and there was light or moderate rain in some places. IMD also predicts the possibility of precipitation in Delhi overnight.
On Saturday, the air quality in the national capital was also in a satisfactory category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average Air Quality Index (AQI) for 24 hours at 16:00 was 72 (satisfactory), compared to 78 on Friday.
