Mobile phone imports in Uzbekistan increased by 19.2% from January to August

From January to August 2026, 222,500 real estate purchase and sale transactions were registered in Uzbekistan, representing an 18.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

The housing market overview was presented by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR). In August, approximately 25,100 housing transactions were registered; compared to August 2025, this figure remained almost unchanged, increasing by only 0.2%.

Market activity showed fluctuations throughout the year. The number of deals sharply rose to 43,500 in March, but then decreased in April and May. The market recovered, reaching a level of 25,000–26,000 transactions per month in June and July, while the level remained roughly the same in August.

The most significant growth since the beginning of the year was recorded in the regions of Tashkent, Syrdarya, and Andijan. In the capital, 7,400 agreements for buying and selling housing were registered in August, which is 2.2% more than the previous year. Over the first eight months, the number of transactions in Tashkent increased by 27.5%.

In the Syrdarya region, housing sales grew by 25.4% from January to August, and the Andijan region recorded a growth of 23.8%. In August, annual growth in housing market activity was recorded in six out of fourteen regions of Uzbekistan.

According to data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the volume of foreign currency acquisition in the country for the period from January to August increased by 17.3%, reaching $44.3 billion.

The majority of these purchases were made by business entities, accounting for $34.7 billion. Citizens of Uzbekistan acquired currencies totaling $9.6 billion during the specified eight months.

Simultaneously, there was an increase in currency supply from the population, which grew by 25.5% to reach $38.2 billion. In this context, the population transferred about $16.6 billion to banks, and companies contributed another $21.6 billion.

During January–August, the dollar exchange rate fluctuated between 11,779 and 12,320 soms, showing an overall increase of 1.5% by the end of this period.

It was previously announced that the Central Bank adjusted the methodology for determining the official currency exchange rate in Uzbekistan. Starting September 15, operations on both the currency exchange and the interbank market will be taken into account when calculating the rate.
