Uzbekistan and Belarus Expand Cooperation in Information Technology

The Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, and the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus in Uzbekistan, Alexander Ogorodnikov, held a meeting to discuss further interaction in the field of digital technologies and IT services.

The press service of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan reported that the parties reviewed opportunities to deepen cooperation in the IT sector. Before the meeting, the Belarusian delegation visited IT Park Uzbekistan, where they were presented with information about the development of Uzbekistan's IT ecosystem, measures to attract foreign investment, working conditions for IT companies, available tax benefits, and ways to increase export potential.

Special attention was paid to the conditions for residents of IT Park, startup support mechanisms, as well as opportunities for Uzbek and foreign IT companies to enter international markets. The delegation then visited UZINFOCOM, where they were shown the organization's activities in the field of digital government, digitalization of public services, and the implementation of digital solutions for citizens and businesses.

Following the presentations, there was an exchange of views regarding Uzbekistan's experience in digital transformation, implemented solutions, and prospects for their practical application. During the meeting, possibilities for increasing the export of IT services, exchanging experience, and strengthening ties between companies from the two countries were discussed.

The parties also studied the prospects for expanding the activities of Belarusian IT companies in Uzbekistan and implementing joint projects in the local market. Significant potential for further cooperation in digital technologies and IT services within the framework of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus was noted.

At the end of the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue between the relevant organizations and IT companies of both countries, as well as jointly seeking directions for practical cooperation and mutually beneficial projects.

Uzbekistan and Belarus plan to expand cooperation in the tourism sector

Uzbekistan and Belarus discussed opportunities to deepen interaction in the tourism industry. According to a statement from the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, the parties intend to increase tourist exchanges, improve air connections between Tashkent and Minsk, and strengthen ties between representatives of the tourism industries of both countries.

The meeting took place during the International Tourism Exhibition in Dushanbe (DITE 2026), which was held in Dushanbe from September 24 to 26. The participants in the negotiations were Sanjar Tajiev, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, and Kirill Masharsky, Director of the National Tourism Agency under the Government of Belarus.

The parties reviewed the potential for more effective use of flights on the Tashkent–Minsk route, as well as the need to activate direct contacts between tourism departments, tour operators, and the private sector.

Promising areas for joint work were identified, including cultural and educational, family, medical, and wellness tourism. Furthermore, the participants discussed organizing recreation, treatment, and rehabilitation through trade unions, exchanging experience in ecotourism, and conducting familiarization tours.

After the meeting, the National Tourism Agency of Belarus and representatives of the Belarusian tourism industry received an invitation to participate in the 31st Tashkent International Tourism Fair 'Tourism on the Silk Road' (TITF–2026) with a national stand.

In conclusion, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation based on the agreements reached and to implement joint tourism projects.

Belarus and Uzbekistan plan to expand industrial cooperation

Anatoly Kalinin, head of the administration of the Minsk Free Economic Zone, met with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus, Nuriddin Mamajonov, on September 15, 2026.

According to information from the Minsk Free Economic Zone, the parties discussed joint steps aimed at developing industrial interaction between producers of Belarus and Uzbekistan.

Preparation for the Interparliamentary Forum

Particular attention was paid to the preparation for the Uzbek-Belarusian Interparliamentary Forum, scheduled for September 29–30 in Khiva. It is expected that the forum will thoroughly examine industrial cooperation between the two countries, and the administration of the Minsk Free Economic Zone also plans to participate in these events.

During the meeting, the investment potential of the Minsk Free Economic Zone, high-tech products manufactured by local enterprises, and prospects for the further development of this special economic zone were presented.

The parties agreed to hold video conferences involving enterprises from Belarus and Uzbekistan. These meetings are intended to discuss specific areas and projects of cooperation.

The head of the administration of the Minsk Free Economic Zone also called on Uzbek companies to actively use the zone's opportunities for implementing joint projects. According to him, cooperation between free economic zones, taking into account existing benefits and advantages, can create prerequisites for launching joint innovative industrial production.

Uzbekistan and Latvia Discuss Expansion of Business Cooperation

According to Dunyo news agency, the Embassy of Uzbekistan organized an Uzbek-Latvian business forum, which was attended by representatives of the business communities of both countries.

During the event, investment opportunities in Uzbekistan were presented to Latvian entrepreneurs, along with information about ongoing reforms aimed at improving the business environment, developing free economic zones, and creating favorable conditions for foreign investors and tourists.

Business negotiations focused on the potential for expanding trade, economic, and investment ties, as well as cooperation in the fields of transport, logistics, food processing, and pharmaceuticals.

Participants discussed the need to increase the volume of bilateral trade and cargo transportation, more effective utilization of the transport and logistics capacities of the two states, and the implementation of new joint investment projects.

Representatives of more than ten major Latvian companies operating in the transport and logistics sector, including Riga Port Group, Baltijas Ekspresis, and Ventspils Commercial Port JSC, took part in the negotiations.

The parties studied opportunities to increase cargo flows between Uzbekistan and Latvia, develop transport routes, and utilize the port infrastructure of Riga and Ventspils to facilitate access of Uzbek goods to European markets. The expansion of warehousing and transit services was also discussed.

Following the meetings, an agreement was reached on a visit by a delegation of Latvian business representatives to Uzbekistan, scheduled for October 5 to 10 of this year. During this visit, the parties intend to continue discussions on cooperation in transport and logistics, energy, and pharmaceuticals, as well as consider possibilities for joint projects and determine steps for their implementation.
