Starting October 1st, a two-month campaign aimed at ensuring cleanliness and improving the landscaping of territories will begin in Uzbekistan. This period coincides with the regions' preparation for the start of the tree and shrub planting season, which is scheduled for November.
This decision is enshrined in a presidential decree concerning the strengthening of the role of mahallas in implementing the national project 'Yashil Maqon'. During the two-month campaign, locations for greening will be determined, soil will be prepared for planting, and the necessary stock of seedlings and shrubs will be formed.
The first tree planting events will take place on November 1st in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region. Bukhara and Navoi regions will join these regions on November 5th.
Starting November 10th, plantings will commence in several regions, including Andijan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Namangan, and Tashkent regions, Fergana region, as well as in Tashkent city itself. In Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions, the campaign will start later, on November 20th.
In the long term, starting January 1, 2027, within the framework of the 'Yashil Mahalla' project, a 'Mahalla Greening' package will be introduced in mahallas. The Forestry Agency will appoint a forester mentor for each mahalla. Before each planting season, participants of the 'mahalla seven' will undergo brief training with these mentors.
