The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced the appointment of Vijay Dahiya as the head coach of Delhi's senior men's team for the 2026-27 domestic season. On Friday, September 25, DDCA also unveiled the coaching staff and selection committees for the men's and women's teams.
Raj Kumar Sharma, who is a children's coach for Virat Kohli and has received the Dronacharya Award, has been appointed as 'staff mentor' in the men's team. Sunita Sharma will take charge of the women's teams. According to DDCA information, these appointments were made based on the recommendations of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).
For Vijay Dahiya, the Delhi management is not new territory; his team previously won the Ranji Trophy in the 2007-08 season. He has also served as a coach for Delhi in the 2012-13, 2014-15, and 2015-16 seasons. Furthermore, Dahiya is an assistant coach in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Gujarat Titans (GT). Previously, he worked with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Vijay Dahiya, who represented India in two Test matches and 10 ODIs, replaced Sandeep Singh. Sandeep had been the head coach of Delhi for the last two seasons and now joins the Cricket Advisory Committee. Kshiteej Sharma and Kuldeep Rawat will serve as assistant coaches for the men's team. Sanjeev Sharma and former fast bowler Parvindar Awan have been assigned the roles of bowling coaches. Delhi will commence its Ranji Trophy against Bengal in Kalyani on October 11.
Former cricketer Kepi Bhaskar of Delhi has been appointed as the head of the senior men's selection committee. In the three-member panel, he will work alongside Manu Nair and Pravin Gupta. Rima Malhotra, a former Indian cricketer, will lead the senior women's selection committee. Swarn Chadda and Rani Ojha will join the selection panel.
Robin Bisht will be appointed as the head coach for the U-23 men's team, while Mohan Chaturvedi and Rajinder Singh Chawla will take up assistant coach positions. Rajiv Nayyar will be responsible for training the U-19 team. Radhu Sharma will be the head coach of the U-16 team, and Abhishek Mankotia will handle the U-14 team. The U-23 women's team is entrusted to former Indian athlete Lattike Kumari. Head coach Dipti Dyani will remain in her post for the senior women's team.
DDCA has also formed a high-performance player group for athlete development, where Gursharan Singh is appointed as the head batting coach for the men's team, and Bantu Singh for the women's. Tilak Raj Sharma and V. Arvind are responsible for bowling in the high-performance player unit.
