In honor of the tenth celebration of Ganpati Chaturthi, artist Aditi Mittal created a five-foot statue of Ganesha using 1100 notebooks. This art piece is a tribute to knowledge, wisdom, and new beginnings.
Every detail of the statue, including Bappa's face, trunk, ears, hands, and crown, was meticulously formed by folding, arranging, and creasing the notebooks so that their pages remained visible.
However, the true purpose of the 'Gyan Ganesha' project is realized after the celebrations and the visarjan ritual. All 1100 notebooks will be donated to needy children and students.
As Aditi notes, 'Bappa transforms from an idol into knowledge in the hands of children.' Thus, Bappa emerges from books, and afterward, those same books become a learning opportunity for someone else. This serves as a beautiful reminder that art is capable not only of inspiring for a moment but also of having a long-term impact after the festivities conclude.
