The rice lamp, known as Maavilakku, is made for conducting auspicious Hindu festivals and prayers.
The following ingredients are required to prepare this item: half a cup of rice flour, a quarter teaspoon of ground cardamom, 15 grams of butter, three tablespoons of condensed milk, one tablespoon of ghee, and one wick.
First, the rice flour and cardamom should be mixed in a bowl. Then, this mixture must be thoroughly stirred and the butter added, kneading it into the mass. After that, the condensed milk should be gradually added until a soft dough is formed.
The resulting dough is then shaped into a lamp. The wick is coated with ghee and placed inside the finished lamp.
