US healthcare experts have called for closer interaction with China, asserting that such cooperation can improve the quality of patient care.
Chinese President Xi Jinping stated on Thursday his readiness to work with US President Donald Trump to steer relations between China and the United States toward a stable future course. Speaking at a welcoming ceremony in the White House, Xi noted that his visit to the United States was at Trump's invitation with the aim of maintaining friendship, expanding cooperation, and promoting the well-being of both peoples.
Dr. Sonali Sethi, president of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP), stated during a panel discussion with leading Chinese physicians: 'We will definitely work with China. You have infrastructure, trainees, innovations; you have everything. And we are happy to help so that you do not make the same mistakes we made on our journey.'
Professor George Cheng from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) suggested that Chinese companies are implementing and refining clinical technologies and acquired experience, and there is now potential for a reciprocal exchange of knowledge—introducing Chinese innovations into Europe and the US for the benefit of local patients.
Professor Cheng added that such dynamic cross-validation of technologies and healthcare delivery models is the future, and it will lead to an improvement in the quality of care provided by doctors to patients.
