Uzbekistan plans to change the method of electricity payment for large consumers belonging to tariff group I. These changes are enshrined in the presidential decree 'On measures for the further development of the fuel and energy sector' and integrated into the current rules for the use of electricity and natural gas.
The new system applies to consumers in tariff group I, which include large industrial enterprises and budgetary organizations with a connected capacity of 750 kVA or more.
Previously, the cost of electricity for this category depended on the time of day. During peak load hours, which fall between 06:00 and 09:00 and from 17:00 to 22:00, an increased coefficient of 1.5 times the standard tariff was applied. In the period from 09:00 to 17:00, considered the semi-peak period, electricity was paid at the standard tariff. At night, from 22:00 to 06:00, a reduced coefficient of 1.5 was in effect.
After the introduction of the new payment system, the conditions will change: electricity consumed at night will be tariffed at the standard rate, while a reduced coefficient of 1.5 will be applied during the semi-peak period. The payment terms for consumption during peak hours will remain unchanged.
As of June 1, 2026, the standard tariff for electricity for consumers in tariff group I is 1,100 UZS per kWh, including VAT. When the increased coefficient is applied during peak hours, the price rises to 1,650 UZS per kWh, and when the reduced coefficient is used, the cost is approximately 733.3 UZS per kWh.
