Following the launch of the Ownly service in Bengaluru, the taxi service provider Rapido has expanded its food delivery service to the city of Hyderabad.
The service was officially introduced at the beginning of this year after a six-month pilot period. The pilot phase began last August and took place in specific areas of Bengaluru, such as Koramangala, HSR, and BTM Layout.
Ownly operates on a zero-commission model, as instead of charging restaurants a commission, the platform collects a subscription fee from them. Currently, Ownly collaborates with over 20,000 restaurants.
Several months ago, Rapido integrated Ownly into its main mobile application to make the food delivery service accessible to active platform users. Thanks to this integration, customers can order dishes through Ownly directly within the Rapido app while booking rides.
The Rapido platform itself is present in over 400 cities and facilitates more than five million rides daily. Its unified ecosystem includes bike taxis, auto-rickshaws, taxis, parcel delivery, flight booking, and now food delivery.
According to projections by the brokerage firm Jefferies, the online food delivery market in India is expected to grow to nearly $25 billion by 2029–2030, up from an estimated $9 billion in 2024–2025.
