US Secretary of State Marco Rubio plans to visit Uzbekistan in October, leading a large business delegation. Specifically, in the city of Samarkand, he will participate in a C5+1 format meeting where negotiations concerning trade, investment, and general economic cooperation will take place.
This visit was announced by the US Special Representative for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor. According to him, the delegation will include representatives from over one hundred American companies.
The main objective of this trip is to expand trade and investment prospects between the United States of America and Uzbekistan. Furthermore, the American side plans to discuss issues of supporting economic modernization and deepening business contacts in the Central Asian region.
During his visit, Rubio will participate in a ministerial meeting in the C5+1 format, which will bring together the heads of foreign affairs departments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. These negotiations are intended to consider the regional economic interdependence, as well as issues of energy security and other common priorities of the countries of Central Asia and the USA.
In addition, the US Secretary of State will hold meetings with the leadership of Uzbekistan and other regional colleagues. Special attention will be paid to increasing trade turnover, attracting private capital investments, and further developing economic partnership.
The American diplomatic mission noted that the visit will contribute to the further strengthening of developing relations between the USA and Uzbekistan. Previously, Marco Rubio had expressed intentions to visit the countries of Central Asia in 2026 with the aim of achieving the removal of trade barriers for this region.
