A 13-year-old school student developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) application without any coding knowledge, which gained popularity in just a few hours and earned ₹2.2 lakh in three days.
Ju Shuhan, an eighth-grade student residing in Shanghai, China, turned her daily problem—distraction during studies—into a successful business idea. Shuhan created an AI app without a programming background that functions like a virtual parent and monitors children's academic activities.
90 orders and ₹2.2 lakh earnings in three days
Shuhan's app, 'Zai Chang', caused a stir at a national AI product marketing competition held in Hangzhou from August 21 to 23. During this three-day competition, Shuhan's app was purchased by 90 customers, resulting in sales of 18,000 yuan (approximately ₹2.2 lakh). Due to its excellent performance among over 50 participants, she secured third place, for which she also received an additional cash prize of 5,000 yuan.
A unique feature of this competition was that there were no technical judges; the winners were determined solely based on how much revenue the AI product generated within three days.
How was the app made without coding?
Despite having no coding experience, Shuhan did not give up. She explained her idea to the Large Language Model (LLM) of AI in simple terms and utilized AI programming tools to solve technical challenges. It took her only three to four days from the inception of the idea to making the app's core features functional.
How does this 'Digital Parent' app work?
This application acts as a 'Virtual Guardian' for children studying alone at home. The user first uploads a picture of their parent or guardian onto the app. Then, when the child starts studying, the app displays the parent's image on the screen and monitors the child's activities through the camera.
If the child stops studying and starts using their phone or gets up and runs away from their seat, the app immediately issues a warning in the parent's voice. Finally, upon completion of the study session, the app generates a 'Concentration Report' showing how long the child focused while studying.
Master idea born from her own necessity
Shuhan got the idea for this app from her personal life. When her working parents were not at home, she often secretly used her phone while getting distracted during studies. When she saw that other children in her class were facing the same problem, she decided to create a 'digital parent clone'.
Interestingly, Shuhan removed the feature from this app that sent an alert of 'mother's anger' when the child frequently lost focus. Shuhan states that she does not like spying, and she wants her app to be gentle so that children have a full opportunity to improve themselves.
Shuhan's younger brother (a primary school student) became the first user of this app. Shuhan believes that with the use of this app, her brother is studying with more dedication than before. She now wants to reduce the price of this app to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
