Gulgula is a traditional sweet fried dough ball originating from India and is often consumed as a snack or an offering during prayer.
The following ingredients are required to prepare this dish: 2 cups of self-rising flour, half a cup of all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon of ground cardamom, 1 handful of coconut flakes, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional), ¾ cup of sugar (the amount can be adjusted), 1 ½ cups of fresh milk, and oil for frying.
The cooking process involves several stages. First, the dry components should be mixed in a bowl. Then, butter needs to be added and rubbed into the breadcrumbs. After that, milk is added to obtain a thick batter. The oil is heated over medium heat.
The batter is scooped into the hot oil. During frying, it must be turned over to ensure even coloring. The finished balls are then carefully drained of excess oil.
