In August of this month, all companies sold a total of 36,593 electric vehicles in India. This growth in the segment compared to August of last year was 84.9 percent. In August 2025, total EV sales across all companies reached 19,792 units.
Mahindra vehicles are rapidly gaining popularity in the electric segment. Although Tata Motors sells the highest number of EVs, Mahindra's growth is also impressive. In August 2026, Mahindra delivered 8,313 electric vehicles. Last August, the company sold only 3,930 electric vehicles.
Thus, Mahindra's annual growth amounted to 111.5 percent. Furthermore, Mahindra's market share in the EV market reached 22.7 percent, while Tata Motors continues to sell the most electric vehicles. In August, this company sold 16,042 electric vehicles, achieving a market share of 43.8 percent.
Mahindra has fewer electric models in its portfolio compared to Tata. However, Mahindra maintains a dominant position in the SUV segment thanks to its models. The Mahindra BE6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9s are fully electric vehicles. The XEV 9s model is very popular due to its seven-seater variant. Tata currently does not have such a seven-seater electric vehicle.
The price of the Mahindra BE 6 Sportec starts from 19.45 lakh rupees including export duties. If a charger is required, it must be purchased separately for 75 thousand rupees. The price of the XEV 9e starts from 21.9 lakh rupees including export duties, but the charger is not included. As for the seven-seater XEV 9s model, its prices start from 30.15 lakh rupees including export duties; this vehicle is available in both six-seater and seven-seater configurations.
