Uzbekistan Women's Rowing Team Wins Silver at Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya

Abdulvakhob Rashidov won at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games held in Japan, bringing the Uzbekistan national team its first gold medal of this tournament.

The Uzbek athlete, who specializes in karate, competed in the under 67 kg weight category. In the final stage of the competition, Rashidov fought against Yugo Kozaki, representing the host country, and managed to emerge victorious.

This success allowed Rashidov to add the first gold to the collection of the Uzbekistan national team at the current Asian Games. The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games gather athletes from various Asian countries.

It is worth noting that previously, boxers from Uzbekistan had achieved success at an international tournament, collecting three gold medals in the city of Chita.

The Fergana football club 'Nefchyi', the current champion of Uzbekistan, successfully started the new season of the AFC Champions League Elite League 2026/2027 with a victory.

In the first round, the Uzbek team achieved a narrow victory over the Iraqi club 'Air Force' at their home stadium in Fergana. Although the match remained goalless in the first half, in the second period, the 'Nefchyi' players increased the pressure on the opponent's defense and managed to succeed in the 83rd minute.

The only and decisive goal was scored by forward Zoran Marušić with a precise header. Additionally, another representative of Uzbekistan in this tournament, Tashkent's 'Pakhtakor' (the current holder of the national cup), will also play its opening match on September 14th.

The capital club 'Pakhtakor' will play away against the Saudi club 'Al-Ahli'. The start of this match is scheduled for 23:15 local Tashkent time.

The Uzbekistan national team demonstrated impressive results at the Eurasian Dauria Cup international tournament held in Chita. The athletes won three gold medals and one silver medal.

Tournament Results

Uzbek boxers confidently took prize places in three different weight categories. Among the main winners of the tournament are Bekhon Abdullaev, Umarkhon Mirzakhonov, and Sarvar Mirzakulov. These athletes won gold medals in the under 75, 81, and 92 kilograms categories, respectively.

Abdullokh Abdullaev brought the national team a silver medal. He reached the final in the under 60 kilograms weight class but lost in the final bout.

At the competition, Uzbek athletes competed against boxers from Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and several other countries. The Eurasian Dauria Cup itself was held in Chita as part of the development of sports interaction between various countries.

It was previously noted that five boxers representing Uzbekistan, according to data from the BoxRec statistical portal, are among the ten strongest amateur fighters in the world regardless of weight class. The leader of this ranking is Olympic champion Abdumalik Khalokov.
