Uzbek schools conduct checks of students' backpacks for vapes

In educational institutions in Uzbekistan, personal belongings and students' backpacks are being checked, resulting in the discovery of vapes. The Prosecutor's Office officially confirmed the conduct of such preventive measures and published a video recording of one such check.

Prevention inspectors have the right to visit classrooms, inspect students' bags, and hold explanatory conversations with them. These actions are organized to prevent minors from committing offenses.

Legislative measures against vapes

The Prosecutor's Office reminded that the use of vapes is prohibited in Uzbekistan. For finding two or more electronic cigarettes, a fine ranging from 100 to 200 basic calculation units is stipulated, along with the confiscation of the devices themselves. At the current BRV rate, this fine is estimated at 44 to 88 million soms.

If the matter concerns the storage of one electronic cigarette intended for personal use, a fine of one BRV may be applied, which amounts to 440 thousand soms.

Authorities emphasized that the purpose of these preventive checks and conversations with students is solely to prevent offenses. Furthermore, the government previously approved a technical regulation that sets requirements for vapes and heated tobacco products.

Students in Samarkand Region Use Donkeys to Travel to School Due to Difficult Terrain

A video has appeared on social media showing how schoolchildren in the Samarkand region travel to their educational institution on donkeys. The regional education department provided explanations regarding the filming location and the reasons why children have to use this mode of transport.

According to the agency's information, the video was recorded in the village of Olmosuvon mahalla in the Burgangsoy Kattakurgan district, where School No. 84 is located. This village is located approximately 40 kilometers from the district center. The settlement is situated on the border with the Koshrabad district, and surrounding small settlements are distributed across mountain slopes.

The main problem is that the roads in this area are predominantly dirt tracks. Due to the complex landscape and the remoteness of the settlements, local residents are forced to use donkeys for movement in the vicinity.

School No. 84 has 92 students, and its branch is attended by another 21 children. The distance between the main building and the branch is about three kilometers, and the farthest route to the school reaches four kilometers.

Seventy-four people aged 5 to 11 study at the school. Since some of these students live in neighboring villages—Koshamazor, Tulali, and Zhilkikhaydar—they need to commute to the main school building daily.

The education department reported that various methods for improving road and other infrastructure in mountainous regions are currently being studied to ensure more comfortable and safe journeys for schoolchildren.

Parents in Uzbekistan will be able to track their children's academic performance and school data through an online portal

A new feature has been added to the my.gov.uz portal, allowing parents to remotely monitor their children's educational process. Parents can now receive information about students' academic performance and data about their educational institutions online.

Access to this new service is available through a personal account on the portal. The user needs to go to the 'My Family' section, find the child's information, and activate the 'School Information' button to view the details.

Through the service, parents can review the child's current grades in all subjects, as well as see their average scores. Additionally, the system provides statistics on the academic performance of the entire class and general performance information.

The service also displays information about the school itself, including its name, location, total number of students, and teachers. Further functional expansion is planned, which will soon allow viewing the child's attendance in real time.

In parallel, Tashkent schools are implementing a digital attendance tracking system called SI Davomat.
