Caoa Changan announced that it received over 3,000 orders for the CS55 model in just three days of commercialization. This sales volume, recorded during the event called CS55 Celebration Day, totals more than R$ 500 million, according to the brand itself, and exceeded the company's initial expectations for the launch of this mid-size SUV, which took place on September 15th.
It is important to note that these figures refer to placed orders and not the number of registrations; the latter will only be determined in Fenabrave statistics as deliveries are finalized. The automaker began its operations in the country in March, utilizing the factory located in Anápolis (GO), which also houses the production of Caoa Chery models.
Among the available options, the CS55 Infinity version, which is the top trim among the gasoline configurations, was the most sought after during the period and is already available for immediate delivery at dealerships. It shares the 1.5 turbo flex engine with the Prime version, generating 180 hp and 29.2 kgfm, coupled with a dual-clutch transmission.
Another notable configuration is the CS55 Ultra Hybrid PHEV Flex, a plug-in hybrid model that combines a flex gasoline engine and electric propulsion, resulting in 286 hp. According to the manufacturer, this system can achieve up to 42.2 km/l in urban environments when the battery is fully charged, which differs from exclusive use as a conventional hybrid.
In this market segment, the CS55 competes directly with vehicles such as Jeep Compass, Toyota Corolla Cross, Volkswagen Taos, Caoa Chery Tiggo 7, BYD Song Plus, and GWM Haval H6, positioning itself in one of the most competitive categories in the Brazilian market.
This SUV represents the third model introduced by the brand since resuming its activities, succeeding the Uni-T and CS75. During its launch, the automaker announced an investment plan of R$ 5 billion in Brazil over the next three years and communicated having reached the milestone of 10,000 vehicles produced in Anápolis at the beginning of September, five months after the plant's reopening.
Due to high demand, Caoa Changan extended the launch prices, known as Celebration Prices, until September 30th. The company has not yet disclosed what the prices will be starting in October, the date the special promotion ends.
