Ford has announced a recall program for 2027 model Ranger pickup units equipped with the 2.0 turbodiesel engine. This recall is related to a potential manufacturing failure in the master cylinder outlet tube assembly of the braking system, which could cause fluid leakage.
The campaign specifically covers vehicles produced from June 1, 2026. The defect may result in the need to apply greater force when pressing the pedal and consequently increase the distance required for the pickup truck to come to a complete stop.
Warning signs for the owner include the illumination of the fluid level indicator light on the dashboard or the perception that more pressure must be exerted on the pedal to brake. With this fault, the vehicle's braking efficiency is reduced, allowing the Ranger to travel a longer distance before stopping.
Ford warned that this situation increases the risk of accidents occurring, potentially leading to physical damage and even fatal injuries to both the occupants of the pickup truck and third parties.
The recall covers vehicles manufactured from June 1, 2026. To allow owners to identify their affected units, Ford requests that they provide the last eight digits of the chassis number.
Inspection and any subsequent repairs will be performed free of charge by the manufacturer's authorized network. The dealership will check the master cylinder outlet tube assembly and, if necessary, the component will be replaced free of charge.
The service procedure should take about one hour, although this time may vary depending on each dealership's workflow. Repairs are scheduled to begin on October 8, 2026. Owners of the involved vehicles must contact the authorized network to perform the check and, if applicable, replace the component.
