Nissan has introduced the 2027 Rogue Hybrid model in the United States, making it the first vehicle from the brand equipped with the e-Power system available in this market. It is important to note that, despite its name, this SUV is not a traditional hybrid; its tires are powered solely by electric motors, while the combustion engine operates exclusively as an electricity generator, a configuration that the industry itself classifies as extended-range electric.
This mechanical setup utilizes a three-cylinder 1.5 turbo engine, specifically designed for this function, which generates 150 hp and boasts 42% thermal efficiency, according to data provided by Nissan. This engine powers a 1.67 kWh lithium-ion battery, which in turn energizes two electric motors: one in the front axle with 205 hp and 33.6 kgfm, and another in the rear with 136 hp and 19.9 kgfm. The total combined power of the system reaches 228 hp, and all-wheel drive is standard on all versions, without the need for a transmission shaft connecting the two parts of the vehicle.
Although energy efficiency ratings are still awaiting evaluation by the EPA, the American environmental agency, internal tests conducted on the SR version indicate an average combined fuel economy of 16.2 km/l, with 17 km/l in the city and 15.3 km/l on the highway. Furthermore, the manufacturer reports that the vehicle has a towing capacity of 680 kg.
In terms of design, the utility vehicle features more refined lines compared to the previous generation, highlighted by a honeycomb grille that integrates with the LED headlights. Inside, it comes standard with two 12.3-inch displays, compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, potentially reaching 14.3 inches in the most expensive configurations.
Sales in the United States will begin in the second half of this year, initially only with the SR version equipped with the Technology package, priced at US$ 43,065 (equivalent to about R$ 220 thousand). Other models will be available at dealerships in early 2027: the entry-level SV version will cost US$ 37,065 (approximately R$ 189 thousand), and the top-of-the-line Platinum version will be sold for US$ 45,065 (about R$ 230 thousand).
The e-Power technology has been present in other markets since 2017 but was never commercialized in Brazil. Nissan has shown interest in bringing the system to the country since 2016 and had planned to produce the hybrid Kicks in Resende (RJ), but this project has been repeatedly postponed due to competition from brands like BYD and GWM in the electrified vehicle segment.
The debut of the system in the Brazilian market is expected through the X-Trail, which is the global equivalent of the Rogue, and whose arrival was confirmed by the manufacturer for the end of this year. In this SUV, the 1.5 turbo engine functions as a generator for a 1.97 kWh battery, powering two electric motors capable of delivering up to 213 hp and 25.5 kgfm. The Kicks e-Power does not have a scheduled launch date for the Brazilian market.
