In India, the way something is described can change drastically when switching from one language to another. Given the presence of 22 official languages and over 700 dialects, creating an artificial intelligence that truly understands India requires considering much more than just the English language.
This is what BharatGen, led by Professor Ganesh Ramakrishnan, is working on: developing fundamental AI focused on India's linguistic diversity. However, the goal goes beyond just language; it aims to ensure that Indians not only use AI but also participate in its creation and shaping.
