Representatives from organizations in Portugal and Cape Verde announced their intention to strengthen cooperation. According to the statement, the protocol aims to enhance interaction and covers areas such as information activities, education, technical support, training programs, and joint applications for funding.
During the signing of the agreement, which took place via teleconference on Tuesday, Eurides Mascarenhas, president of CNDHC, mentioned a traffic accident on Fogo Island at the beginning of the month. This incident resulted in the death of 25 children and young people, highlighting the need to unite efforts to protect children's rights.
Manuel Ataide Quintinho, president of IAC, noted that this partnership allows for the consolidation of experience and efforts. He stated that the parties can mutually learn and find more effective ways to respond to existing problems.
CNDHC was established in 2004 and includes representatives from various organizations that meet regularly every three months. This organization has coordination centers in all 22 municipalities of the archipelago, which act as intermediaries between CNDHC and local communities.
IAC was founded in 1983 and brings together various professional fields—doctors, judges, teachers, psychologists, social service specialists, and educators. It promotes the implementation of national projects alongside local actions in different parts of Portugal.
