SBM BH, which operates as the official Shineray SBM dealership in the mining capital, announced the free replacement of exhausts for the SBM 250T model. This measure was taken after receiving several customer complaints regarding overheating, intense vibrations, and high fuel consumption.
The information was initially disclosed by the Motoo portal and represents an exclusive initiative of the store located in Belo Horizonte for vehicles purchased at that unit. To date, Shineray SBM has not provided details about a possible nationwide coverage strategy.
Details on the model and the complaints
The SBM 250T was introduced to dealerships in April 2026, resulting from the collaboration between SBM, Shineray's premium segment, and the Chinese company QJ Motor. In the following months, owners began registering dissatisfaction with the model on the Reclame Aqui platform.
The reports compiled on Reclame Aqui address issues of performance, consumption, heating, and vibration. A consumer from Apodi (RN) reported a consumption close to 16 km/l, in addition to overheating and instability at high speeds, even though the motorcycle had traveled just over a thousand kilometers. Another buyer, residing in Pouso Alegre (MG), linked the heat and vibration to damage in parts near the exhaust system, including the auxiliary light.
In response to these manifestations, the manufacturer instructed owners to take their motorcycles to an authorized service center or dealership for a technical analysis, ensuring that the cases would be monitored by the engineering team. In a specific service, the company confirmed that both the manufacturer and its network were aware of the problems reported in certain units of the 250T.
Changes to the component and implications
According to SBM BH, the new exhaust component was designed with the aim of reducing the heat generated laterally by the engine and lowering the noise level. It is important to note that the replacement is not mandatory; owners have the option to keep the original part.
However, this modification carries a notable consequence for a trail-type motorcycle. The dealership informed that the minimum ground clearance decreases from 290 mm to approximately 240 mm, representing a reduction of about 50 mm. This change directly affects the attribute that supported the model's dual-use proposal, originally promoted as suitable for trails.
The store predicted that the new exhaust would be available within 60 days, with the replacement being carried out by scheduling appointments at the network's workshops. AutoPapo contacted Shineray seeking information about the extension of this exchange to other dealerships in the country but received no response by the time of publication.
