Uzbekistan plans to increase the number of tennis players to 3 thousand by 2030

Uzbekistan intends to significantly raise the level of tennis development: by 2030, it is planned that the number of people regularly engaged in this sport will reach 3 thousand, and the number of coaches will increase to 200. Furthermore, the country aims to enter the top five Asian countries in terms of tennis development.

Plans for Sports Development

To achieve these ambitious goals, various competitions at both international and republican levels will begin to be regularly organized in Uzbekistan starting from October 1, 2026. Among the planned events are tournaments held under the auspices of ATP, WTA, and ITF, as well as the Uzbekistan Cup and republic championships for youth, juniors, and adults.

The organization of an international tournament, the Uzbekistan Open, for adult athletes is also provided for, and ATP Challenger series competitions are planned for men's categories. In addition, tennis has been officially recognized as one of the promising areas in sports policy.

Previously, Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized sports officials, noting their formal approach and insufficient results, including in the field of tennis.

Uzbek Para-athletes Debut in Three New Sports at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Games

Shahrullo Mahmudov commented on issues related to Japan's hot and humid climate, stating that the weather conditions will not be an obstacle for the republic's athletes. He emphasized that the conditions are the same for all participants, and all necessary opportunities for adaptation are provided for the athletes.

Speaking about the potential for winning medals, the deputy minister noted that thanks to state support, the chances of athletes are equal in all categories of disciplines. Furthermore, he explained the decision to send only the women's team to the handball tournament because it has higher chances of successful performance compared to the men's team.

Hikmat Toshmatov provided information on the preparation for the Para Asian Games. At the competitions in Aichi-Nagoya, Uzbek para-athletes will participate in 11 sports, three of which are new to the country: para fencing, para archery, and boccia.

27.2 trillion soums invested in education in Uzbekistan over the first seven months of 2026

In the first seven months of 2026, the total volume of services in the education sector of Uzbekistan reached 27.2 trillion soums. This figure demonstrates an increase of 18.4% compared to the same period last year.

According to data from the National Committee on Statistics, higher education accounts for a significant share of the total volume of educational services, making up 41.2%, which is almost half of all services.

Leaders in Educational Service Volume

Tashkent is the leader in the volume of educational services provided, reaching 14.5 trillion soums in the capital over seven months. Thus, more than half of the country's total educational service volume fell to the capital.

Among the regions, the highest indicators were recorded in Samarkand and Fergana regions, where the volume of services amounted to 1.7 trillion soums each. Next are Namangan and Andijan regions with a figure of 1.3 trillion soums, as well as Tashkent region, which showed 1.2 trillion soums.

In Bukhara region, the volume of educational services reached 1.1 trillion soums, and in Kashkadarya region—972.7 billion. The indicator in Karakalpakstan was 771.7 billion soums.

In Surkhandarya, educational services amounting to 712.0 billion soums were provided during the period from January to July, and in Khorezm region—694.1 billion. In Navoi region, this figure was 423.9 billion soums.

The smallest volume of educational services among the regions was registered in Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions, where the amounts were 361.8 billion and 357.1 billion soums, respectively.

Additionally, it should be noted that in the first half of 2026, commercial banks in Uzbekistan provided preferential educational loans totaling 115.9 billion soums.
