SANParks has issued a warning to the public regarding bungee jumping and wingsuit flying after various videos demonstrating such activities have appeared in recent days.
This caution comes several months after a tragic bungee jumping incident in Platteklip Gorge, where one participant died on January 5th.
The park administration insists that bungee jumping is illegal, unregulated, and strictly prohibited within Table Mountain National Park.
The park management's position was officially reinforced following the death in January, when it was stated that the national park is protected under the Environmental Management Act: protected areas and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
SANParks emphasized that activities posing a threat to human life and the environment are not permitted in the protected area.
The organization strongly urged visitors and citizens to refrain from participating in bungee jumping or similar activities inside the park, and to report any suspicions of illegal activity.
