According to data for Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the GIFT Nifty index signaled a possible slight negative opening for the Nifty50 index as market participants assessed the probability of reduced tension in West Asia. GIFT Nifty futures traded at 23,339 points, which was 49 points lower.
Most markets in the Asia-Pacific region showed growth, following similar overnight movements by their Wall Street counterparts, driven by technology stocks that reaffirmed their leadership. For instance, the Korean Kospi rose by 0.4 percent, while Japanese financial markets were closed for a holiday.
Overnight gains in artificial intelligence (AI) related stocks pushed the Nasdaq 100 index to a new high since June. The index closed 0.82 percent higher, reaching 30,732.40. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.36 percent, and the S&P 500 remained unchanged on Tuesday.
Brent crude oil prices dropped by more than 1 percent as traders hoped that military actions between the US and Iran would cease after US President Donald Trump announced a very good conversation with the Iranian envoy. However, during the Asian session, prices recovered losses, and September futures rose by 0.48 percent, reaching $99.09 per barrel on the Intercontinental Exchange.
Gold and silver futures also showed gains: gold increased by 0.14 percent, and silver by 1.14 percent.
Initial Public Offerings (IPO)
On Wednesday, investors will see a busy primary market session as nine initial public offerings (IPOs) open for subscription. In the mainboard section, subscriptions will open for the IPOs of Adroit Industries, Elevate Campuses, Swastika Infra, and ArMee Infotech.
