The conflict escalated after Kyiv began attacking Russian oil refineries following repeated Moscow attacks on Ukraine's power grid. Zelensky called for the participation of the US and Europe to involve Russia in negotiations. He also noted that Trump guaranteed him at today's meeting that he would do 'everything possible' to end the conflict.
Regarding the previously proposed trilateral meeting by Zelensky, the Ukrainian leader confirmed his readiness to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Currently, Trump only stated that Putin is ready to meet with him, as was already the case in Alaska in August 2025.
Zelensky also touched upon the upcoming meeting between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, noting that he considers the Chinese leader influential over Putin, and that 'all countries must work towards ending the war.' He insisted that if everyone wants to end the war, they must work on it around the clock.
Furthermore, Zelensky indicated that Ukraine continues to request assistance from the United States for the production of interceptors for its Patriot systems, which are critically important for countering Russian ballistic attacks as winter approaches. Trump stated today that the US might allow Ukraine to independently produce interceptors for Patriot missile systems, but no more detailed information was provided.
