The national football team of Uzbekistan U-23 completed the group stage of the XX Asian Summer Games held in Yekaterinburg, finishing first in Group C. This was the result of a 2-0 victory over Vietnam in the final group match.
The match took place on September 22 at the Paloma Mizuho Rugby Stadium in Nagoya, attended by 4134 spectators. Uzbekistan opened the scoring in the fifth minute thanks to a goal by Urinboev. In the second half, the team scored a second goal, which was scored by Ibraimov in the 67th minute.
In three matches, Uzbekistan earned nine points, securing three victories. The team passed the group stage without any losses, with a goal difference of +8, and finished first ahead of Vietnam, the Philippines, and Kuwait.
In the Asian Games quarterfinals, Uzbekistan will face Saudi Arabia, which finished second in Group D. In its last group stage match, Saudi Arabia lost to the Republic of Korea with a score of 0-2.
The quarterfinal match between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia is scheduled for September 25 at 10:00 Tashkent time at the Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya.
