Marcopolo is reintroducing its buses to the European road transport market. On Tuesday, the 22nd, in Madrid, Spain, the Brazilian manufacturer and Volvo Buses presented the vehicle resulting from their collaboration: the Paradiso G8 body mounted on the Volvo B13R chassis, manufactured in Sweden.
This new model already has confirmed orders in France, Italy, and Portugal, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2027. The strategic partnership was formalized in October 2025, initially focusing on French and Italian clients, and what was displayed at the fair is the production version of the vehicle.
Designed for long-distance travel and tourism, the bus will be available in 4x2 and 6x2 configurations, with an initial focus directed towards Southern Europe. The European version differs from the one sold in Latin America as it has received modifications such as structural weight reduction, aerodynamic optimizations aimed at lower consumption, and the inclusion of components from local suppliers, in addition to meeting the homologation standards of the regional market. The main commercial argument presented is the total cost of ownership.
Rodrigo Bisi, Marcopolo's commercial operations manager for Europe, reported that product validation began at Busworld 2025 and was accompanied by dynamic demonstrations in the three countries where the first sales were concluded. Additionally, the model is among the finalists of the Sustainable Bus Award 2027, the results of which will be announced during FIAA.
Thomas Nylund, Director of Volvo Buses in Europe, emphasized that the union combines Volvo's chassis technology, fuel efficiency, and safety with Marcopolo's design, comfort, and bodywork expertise. Buyers will have access to the after-sales and service network offered by the Swedish manufacturer in the area.
The division of commercial responsibilities was established individually for each country. In Italy and France, Volvo Buses assumes full commercialization of the complete vehicle, including all technical and after-sales support, using its dealership network. In Spain and Portugal, management is shared between both companies. There is potential to include other European markets in the future.
Marcopolo, headquartered in Caxias do Sul (RS), celebrated 77 years and establishes itself as one of the largest independent body manufacturers globally, operating in eight nations, employing over 15,500 employees, and having the capacity to produce up to 120 units daily. The company has already delivered more than 500,000 vehicles to approximately 140 countries.
