The new compact crossover model, Nissan Tekton, has appeared on the South African market. Following the sale of the plant in Rossline to Chery Auto South Africa, Nissan South Africa will increasingly rely on vehicles manufactured in India, and the new Tekton will be an important element in the brand's new era.
The Tekton is positioned above its Indian counterpart, the Magnite, and utilizes components from Renault Alliance stock, drawing many features from the recently introduced Duster model. Nevertheless, the Tekton possesses several unique design solutions, especially in the front end, which is inspired by the latest Patrol model that Nissan has also confirmed plans to introduce to local sales in the near future.
In South Africa, the Nissan Tekton is available in five different trims. South African buyers can choose one of these five versions, starting from a price just below R340,000.
Nissan Tekton Prices in South Africa
The specific prices for the models are as follows: the 1.0 Visia (manual transmission) costs R339,999; the 1.3 Visia (DCT) is R399,999; the 1.3 Acenta (DCT) is R459,999; the 1.3 Tekna (DCT) is R499,999; and the most expensive version, the 1.3 Tekna+ (DCT), will cost R529,999.
Like its sibling from Renault, the Nissan Tekton is offered with a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines. The base trim is equipped with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, producing 74 kW of power and 160 Nm of torque, and it is available exclusively with a manual transmission. The other variants are fitted with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 120 kW and 260 Nm, and they are paired with a dual-clutch gearbox.
Despite lacking all-wheel drive options, the Tekton offers a relatively high ground clearance of 212 mm, which is above average.
What Features Are Available in the Vehicle?
All versions of the Nissan Tekton are equipped with a 10.1-inch multimedia system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and tire pressure monitoring.
The Acenta model differs from the Visia by featuring larger 18-inch wheels instead of 17-inch alloy wheels, and it includes a fully digital instrument cluster, zoned climate control, rear USB ports, wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a multi-view camera, and blind-spot warning.
The Tekna version has a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and is equipped with diamond-cut wheels, cabin lighting, hill descent control, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
All vehicles come with a four-year or 60,000 km maintenance plan, as well as a six-year or 150,000 km warranty.
