The Manager of the Integrated Planning Department of the National Iranian Gas Company announced the partial restoration of lost production capacity at the South Pars refineries. Two stages of the Early Recovery Program have been completed.
According to Mehr News Agency, citing the Ministry of Oil, Said Pakseresht stated in an interview that as a result of these attacks, 230 million cubic meters of gas per day were taken out of the country's production cycle. He emphasized that, in terms of the volume of lost capacity, this incident is one of the largest attacks on gas equipment in the world.
He specified that the initial reconstruction plans were divided into two parts: the first is early recovery, aimed at minimizing the consequences of the incident and quickly returning part of the refining capacity to the production cycle; the second part involves the complete reconstruction of damaged facilities, which will require more time.
The Manager of the Integrated Planning Department of the National Iranian Gas Company continued that the Early Recovery Program was developed in four phases, two of which have already been completed, and some of the lost capacity has returned to the country's gas network. Furthermore, the third phase of the program will be launched according to the planned schedule.
Pakseresht noted that although the initial deadline for the fourth phase was set for Ordibehesht 1406 (April–May 2027), efforts are being made to return some of this capacity to the production cycle before the start of the cold months of the year.
Regarding the process of complete reconstruction of the refineries, he stated that based on the decision of the Ministry of Oil, responsibility for the restoration of the Third and Fifth South Pars refineries is assigned to the National Iranian Oil Company, while the reconstruction of the Fourth and Sixth refineries is assigned to the National Iranian Gas Company. This is done so that by utilizing all capacities of the oil and gas industry, restoration work can be carried out in the shortest possible time.
The Manager of the Integrated Planning Department of the National Iranian Gas Company, commenting on the experience gained from recent attacks on the country's gas equipment, noted that although various plans and measures were provided in previous years for readiness for crisis conditions, this time the gas industry was tested in real conditions, allowing valuable experience in crisis management and increasing resilience to be gained.
Pakseresht added that various steps had previously been taken to prepare equipment, machinery, and personnel, which helped overcome difficult conditions with minimal consequences and secondary effects. However, actually entering such conditions was a different experience, and the damage incurred was significant in scale and severity.
He stressed that using lessons learned from the past and previous experience played an important role in managing this crisis, and the results show that restoration and capacity return work is progressing according to plan, and the consequences of the incident are largely under control.
The Manager of the Integrated Planning Department of the National Iranian Gas Company, speaking about the application of technologies and technical knowledge in the reconstruction process, stated that the country's gas industry possesses extensive experience in operating gas processing plants, and this specialized foundation proved very effective in carrying out restoration work.
Pakseresht continued that maximum specialized capacity, technical knowledge, as well as the experience of experts and specialists in the gas industry, were used along the way. Attempts were made to advance the reconstruction process with due speed and quality by utilizing available capacities.
Emphasizing the need to keep knowledge and technologies up-to-date in the gas industry, he stated that Iran's gas industry is a mature, professional, and dynamic sector, and maintaining this position requires the continuous introduction of the latest scientific and technological advancements.
