Indian wushu athlete Roshibina Devi Naorem once again demonstrated her abilities at the Asian Games, advancing to the semi-finals in the women's 60 kg category on Tuesday. By defeating Chu Meng Xin from Macau in the quarter-finals, Roshibina guaranteed India a medal. This will be her third consecutive medal success at these Games.
The competition took place at the martial arts hall of Aichi Prefecture, where Roshibina was declared the winner based on the point difference. This quarter-final victory allowed her to continue her medal campaign at the Asian Games for the third time.
Previously, Roshibina won a silver medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018, followed by a bronze medal at the Hangzhou Games in 2022. Now, in Nagoya, her medal is secured. After winning two medals of different colors at two Asian Games, she now has the opportunity to win the brightest color.
The most intriguing moment in Roshibina's history is that although her medal is already guaranteed, its color has not yet been determined. By reaching the semi-finals, she will advance to the final, where she will have a chance to surpass silver and win gold.
India now hopes that in the next match, she will reach the final and be able to change the color of her medal.
In the women's disciplines of Nanquan and Nandao, Khanjambam Langlentombi Devi placed ninth, scoring 9.403 points. Her score included 4.850 points for movement quality, 2.703 points for overall performance, and 1.850 points for degree of difficulty.
Meanwhile, in the men's Sanda category weighing 56 kg, Aryan lost to Saidullo Aburashitov from Uzbekistan with a score of 1-2. Aburashitov won with scores of 5-0, 0-5, and 0-5.
