On Tuesday, a foundation-laying ceremony was held for the Makran History and Culture Museum in the Chabahar Free Zone. This project aims to document and present the ancient history and cultural heritage of the Makran coast in Iran.
The event was attended by Hossein Forouzan, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Iranian Free and Special Economic Zones; Mohammad-Saeed Arbabi, CEO of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization; Alireza Noura, Governor of Chabahar, as well as several regional and provincial officials.
Hamidreza Soleimani, CEO of the Mostazafan Foundation Museums 'Dafineh', stated that the museum is designed to provide a comprehensive and documented account of the rich cultural heritage and ancient history of the Makran coast.
According to Soleimani, the museum will consist of three floors. The first floor features an entrance and introductory area where visitors will be introduced to the region through digital technologies, sensory displays, and interactive screens.
The second floor will be dedicated to the history of maritime trade and navigation in Makran, while the third floor will focus on regional development, its infrastructure, industrial potential, and modern changes.
According to Soleimani, the total area of the facility will be approximately 10,000 square meters, with the museum's built-up area reaching approximately 2,500 square meters.
Under a previously signed memorandum between the Chabahar Free Zone Organization and the 'Dafineh' Museum Institute, the institute will oversee and provide specialized expertise for the design, content development, and launch of the museum.
The Makran coast, also known as Makran or Mokran, is an extensive semi-desert coastal strip along the Arabian Sea, stretching across southeastern Iran and southwestern Pakistan. Within Iran, this coast is predominantly located in Sistan and Baluchestan Province and includes Chabahar, which is a major port and trade center on the Arabian Sea.
