Sweet rice holds an important place in Indian culture, where it is prepared as prasad—sacred offerings during religious rituals and festivals, symbolizing gratitude and devotion.
The following ingredients are required to prepare this dish: one cup of white rice, two cups of water, two tablespoons of sugar, two cinnamon sticks, two whole cardamoms, two cups of milk, one can of condensed milk, 200 grams of butter, one teaspoon of ground cardamom, and colored almond flakes for garnish.
The cooking process begins with thoroughly washing the rice. Then, the rice, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, water, and sugar are mixed in a pot. The mixture is cooked over medium or low heat for fifteen minutes, stirring occasionally.
After this, milk is added, and the rice continues to cook until all the liquid is absorbed, which also requires periodic stirring. Next, the butter and condensed milk are added to the dish, mixing the components.
When the rice reaches the desired consistency and becomes thick, ground cardamom is added and stirred. It is important to remember the need to maintain medium or low heat constantly. To finish the preparation, the sweet rice is garnished with colored almond flakes.
