Tickets for the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi museum are now available for purchase, allowing visitors to book a visit in advance of the museum's official opening on December 11 on Saadiyat Island.
The general admission ticket costs 70 dirhams, but entry is free for individuals under 18, UAE students, and people over 60. Additionally, reduced rates are provided for certain visitor categories.
The opening of this museum marks the arrival of one of Abu Dhabi's significant new cultural landmarks. The museum will showcase contemporary and relevant art spanning from the 1960s to the present day.
The museum was designed by the late architect Frank Gehry, a Pritzker Prize laureate. Guggenheim Abu Dhabi features 28 indoor galleries connected by a central atrium and 10 large sculptural cones. There is also 23,000 square meters of open exhibition space located on the cones and terraces of the museum.
The total area of the museum is 11,600 square meters, and it will feature works in genres such as painting, sculpture, installation, photography, moving image, and new media.
According to the museum's statement, instead of following a strictly chronological or geographical approach, the collection and exhibitions will explore artistic connections, exchanges, and lineages between different cultures and regions.
The development of Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is carried out through cooperation between the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Tickets can be purchased on the museum's website before the opening date of December 11.
