Karateka Namati wins Iran's first gold at Asian Games in Nagoya

Morteza Namati from Iran won the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games on Tuesday.

The Iranian athlete defeated Davut Nazymradov from Uzbekistan with a score of 4:3 in the final match in the Kumite men's -75 kg category. Namati's gold medal is the first for Iran at these Games.

Bronze medals were won by Nurkanat Ajikanov from Kazakhstan and Fawaz Bani Al-Marjeh from Syria. The karate competitions at the 2026 Asian Games are taking place from September 20 to 30 in the public sports hall of Toyohashi city, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

It is worth noting that previously, boxers from Uzbekistan had achieved success at an international tournament, collecting three gold medals in the city of Chita.
