Bharti Airtel includes Apple TV and Apple Arcade in postpaid family plans starting from 999 rupees

Major telecom operator Bharti Airtel announced on Tuesday an upgrade to its postpaid family plans priced at 999 rupees and above by integrating Apple services, including iCloud+, Apple TV, and Apple Arcade.

The new offering aims to provide Airtel customers with access to cloud storage, entertainment, and gaming services within a single postpaid plan.

Access to Apple Services

With the addition of iCloud+, Airtel subscribers on postpaid plans can store, sync, and access photos, files, passwords, contacts, and other information on their Apple devices, as well as ensure secure data backup.

Furthermore, Apple TV will provide access to the company's original series and films, while Apple Arcade will offer games free of advertisements or in-app purchases.

Plan Details and Benefits

The family postpaid plan for 999 rupees includes unlimited data for a family of three, supported by Fastlane technology, spam protection, and access to entertainment content subscriptions. Airtel emphasized that the inclusion of iCloud+, Apple TV, and Apple Arcade unifies connectivity, entertainment, gaming, and cloud storage within this plan.

Customers can upgrade their plans through the Airtel app or by visiting any Airtel store.

Amit Tripathi, Director of Market Operations at Bharti Airtel, noted: 'At Airtel, we are constantly looking for ways to simplify our customers' lives while creating more differentiated value through our offerings.' He added that adding Apple services to postpaid family plans allows for the consolidation of connectivity, entertainment, and digital experience into one plan.

However, Brazil is not among the territories that have received this benefit, nor do the United States or the European Union.

This change was considered unexpected, given that Apple already offers an integrated package called Apple One, which includes iCloud+, Apple TV, Apple Music, and Apple Arcade. In Brazil, Apple One has an initial cost of R$ 47.90 per month, while iCloud+ starts at R$ 5.90 per month for 50 GB, focusing primarily on storage and backup, in addition to including security features like the Hide My Email option.

The most relevant aspect of this new feature is that, in eligible countries, the inclusion of Apple TV and Apple Arcade applies even to the most basic iCloud+ plan, the 50 GB plan, which costs R$ 5.90 per month in Brazil. This could lead to considerable savings for users in these markets.

The decision may be related to the fact that in regions such as Brazil, the United States, and European Union countries, Apple One packages already have a considerably established user base, which could generate potential competition with the expansion of iCloud+ in those areas. In contrast, the more than 100 countries benefiting are those where adoption of Apple One or Apple TV is still low, suggesting an effort by Apple to expand its streaming platform and integrate Apple Arcade.

Among the nations that now have this functionality are India, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Belize, Guyana, Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago. In the covered markets, users who used Apple TV or Apple Arcade will be automatically migrated to iCloud+. Although Apple One packages remain available for current subscribers, new sign-ups for these packages will not be accepted.
