Digital creators share expenses for a month of living and traveling in Ladakh

Digital creators Anjali and Naman shared a detailed breakdown of their expenses for a month of living, working, and traveling in Ladakh.

According to the couple, they spent a total of 96,600 rupees on accommodation, food, scooter rental, and excursions in Ladakh. During the trip, they traveled around the outskirts of Ladakh and took a trip from Manali to Leh, returning by flight from Delhi.

Before the trip, the couple expected to find a room for a month for approximately 15,000 rupees, with a maximum of 20,000 rupees. However, after arriving, their budget changed. Anjali and Naman reported that they had to pay 30,000 rupees for decent accommodation. They specified that the rent for the room was about 1,000 rupees per night, which consumed a significant portion of the monthly expenses just for lodging.

The couple also provided a detailed report of their spending. About 9,000 rupees was spent on food for the month. To travel around Ladakh and its surroundings, they rented a scooter, which cost them approximately 2,100 rupees. Nevertheless, they were able to use the host's scooter for a period free of charge, which helped save money.

Daily expenses were supplemented by costs for snacks and groceries, amounting to about 2,500 rupees. Furthermore, when they wanted to eat out, they spent an additional 5,000 rupees. Thus, in addition to paying for housing, food, and daily necessities, the overall budget included expenses for leisure and dining out.

During their working vacation, the couple did not limit themselves to working in one place; they visited various areas of Ladakh. According to Anjali and Naman, about 30,000 rupees was spent on traveling around the outskirts of Ladakh. This amount also included the travel costs to and from Ladakh.

Summing up all these costs, the couple reported that the total cost for a month of living, working, and traveling was 96,600 rupees. Additionally, a grocery market and a 24-hour 7-Eleven store were located near her apartment, accessible by walking.

According to her, expenses for groceries and dining out amounted to approximately 19,000 Indian rupees. For transportation, she used ride-hailing services and spent about 700 rupees for the entire month.

In addition, a significant amount was spent on what she called non-essential expenses, including dinners with friends, spa treatments in the building, evening outings, and other lifestyle activities, which cost about 38,000 rupees.

The most surprising thing was that despite these expenditures, she felt that life there was significantly cheaper than in Mumbai.
