The Haikou Workers' Activity Center, also known as the Workers' Cultural Palace (CADG), is located on Hainan Island in Haikou, a region characterized by a hot and humid coastal climate.
This center was designed by the CADG's Green Architecture Design & Research Institute and has recently been completed. Its central concept is based on the idea of the 'Tree of Life' and it was structured as an 'Ecological Settlement,' setting a new standard for public architecture that considers Haikou's climatic conditions.
In addition to being a civic complex housing cultural, sports, and training activities, the project functions as an urban refuge. It was conceived to be community-oriented, adaptable to the local climate, and operate with low carbon consumption.
