If vacation time is a priority, the banking sector takes the lead. According to official information from the State Bank of India (SBI), a Probationary Officer is entitled to 33 days of privilege leave and 12 days of ordinary leave annually. Furthermore, benefits such as sick leave and maternity leave are provided. According to SBI, eligible employees (women, as well as single men caring for children or elderly parents) can receive sabbatical leave for up to two years. Employees are also provided with Leave Travel Concession.
Regarding salary, the official career website of SBI lists the Total Cost to Company (CTC) at ₹18.67 lakh for a Probationary Officer in Mumbai. This amount includes components such as rented accommodation and travel allowance.
Positions of Officer Grade B at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also offer a respectable salary. According to the RBI recruitment notification for 2025, the basic salary for an Officer Grade B is ₹78,450 per month, and the initial Gross Emoluments, excluding House Rent Allowance (HRA), was estimated at approximately ₹150,374 per month. The official RBI notification also describes benefits such as housing loans, medical care, leave and baggage allowance, as well as loans and other perks. However, since RBI employees are subject to internal bank regulations, information regarding the number of leaves at RBI Grade B is unavailable and is determined according to the prevailing bank rules.
For employees working in various departments of the central government, CCS (Leave) rules apply. According to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) rules, employees are granted several types of leave, including half-pay leave and ordinary leave. Under the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972, in addition to accumulated leave and other general leave, special childcare leave is provided for eligible employees.
