The Pakistani women's cricket team secured a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games. On Tuesday, September 22, at the Korghi Sports Park in Nishine, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh with a score of 31 points.
Pakistan, having lost the draw, started with baseball, scoring 145 runs in 20 overs and losing 8 players. In response, Bangladesh could only manage 114 runs in the same 20 overs.
Pakistan's start was not ideal, but captain Fatima Sana managed to stabilize the game towards the end of the match. She scored 45 runs in 30 overs, including three fours and three sixes. Opener Gul Firoza played quickly, scoring 31 runs in 23 overs with the help of six fours. Alia Riaz contributed 25 runs in 22 overs, and Shawal Julfikar added 17 runs in 27 overs.
A key factor in Pakistan achieving a good score was Fatima Sana's performance in the final overs. From Bangladesh's side, Ritu Moni, Shorna Akhtar, and Nahida Akhtar each took two wickets. Sanjida Akhtar also helped by taking one wicket of Megla.
In the chase for the target of 146 runs, Bangladesh faced difficulties as Pakistani bowlers maintained constant pressure. Samee Akhtar scored the most runs not out—46, hitting four fours in 45 overs. The main reason for Pakistan's victory was its bowling performance. Uma Ahani demonstrated outstanding play, taking three wickets while conceding only 10 runs in four overs. Tasmia Rubab, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandu, and Aisha Jafar each took one wicket.
The Pakistani women's cricket team had previously won two gold medals at the Asian Games. Now they have also secured a bronze. Meanwhile, Bangladesh was satisfied with fourth place.
