In the city of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, students are expressing growing dissatisfaction regarding the old recruitment regulations for TGT-PGT positions. After leaving the protest site near the stone church, the students proceeded to the Directorate of Education, where four students are holding a sit-in strike dressed in 'ramani' and demonstrating their protest by portraying themselves as dead.
Other male and female students from various parts of Uttar Pradesh supported them and spent the entire night at the Directorate of Education building. The entire situation is related to the new regulations introduced for the TGT-PGT exams. The students' demand is that the government reinstate the application of the old regulations.
According to the protesters, the new regulations lead to injustice and jeopardize their future. It is because of this that four students have been on a hunger strike since September 5th. Despite the time elapsed, a medical team arrived at the location to check on the condition of all four students.
The students participating in the hunger strike are dressed in 'ramani', which traditionally symbolizes death or self-sacrifice. They state that their protest will continue until the old regulations are restored, even if they have to sacrifice their lives. Other present students are also continuously chanting slogans demanding the application of the old regulations, as the new ones are unacceptable to them under any circumstances.
The students issued a clear warning: if the government does not listen to their demands and satisfy their requests, this protest may become larger in the coming days.
