UBTECH begins mass shipments of humanoid companions UWorld U1 in China

UBTECH has started mass shipments of its consumer humanoid companions, the UWorld U1, in China. According to GenAI Daily and product briefings, shipments are expected to commence in mid-September 2026 following the global launch in Shenzhen on June 30. This wave of consumer deliveries differs from previous reports by Pandaily regarding UBTECH's industrial production in Luozhou and from preliminary orders in June.

The official English name of the company is UBTECH, and the consumer series is UWorld U1. At the June launch, UBTECH presented three variants: U1 Lite (half-torso), U1 Pro (full-body), and U1 Ultra (high-dynamic). Prices started from 119,800 yuan. At the time of the launch, it was noted that the total order volume exceeded 13,361 units.

Later English product reviews define Lite as a desktop companion with a partial body at a price close to the initial one. The Pro model is positioned as a full-sized home robot costing around 169,800 yuan, while the Ultra is a premium configuration reaching approximately 990,000 yuan. For the full-body models, male and female heights are specified as about 183 cm and 168 cm, respectively.

Technical specifications stated in the launch materials include up to 88 degrees of freedom, medical silicone skin, a biomimetic neck with a double joint, target lip synchronization of less than 20 milliseconds, and an emotion-oriented stack model that operates locally on the device. Materials for the Ultra also indicate onboard computing power in the several thousand TOPS class, depending on the configuration.

UBTECH's main positioning concept is companionship, not performing household chores such as cooking or cleaning. The launch announcements emphasized the importance of local memory and the user's ability to delete data independently. The September shipment reports view the first customer devices as the start of fulfilling this backlogged order in five-digit numbers. Target capacity metrics for 2026 mentioned in secondary briefings are significantly higher than the volumes of corporate orders for full-sized models in 2025. Furthermore, the initial shipment notifications did not provide independent field metrics regarding battery life, gait smoothness, or return rates.
