The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan has officially denied reports that universities were given verbal instructions not to accept citizens from India and Bangladesh. The Ministry emphasized that the information circulating on social media is unreliable.
Starting from the current academic year, foreign applicants wishing to enroll in higher education institutions in Uzbekistan must submit applications through the unified electronic platform 'Study in Uzbekistan'. This platform provides prospective students with information about universities, curricula, admission requirements, and tuition fees.
Through this system, applicants can upload necessary documents electronically and track the status of their applications. According to the ministry's statement, the new system is designed to make the enrollment process for international students more open and transparent, reduce applicants' dependence on intermediaries, and allow them to interact directly with educational institutions.
Registration on this platform is free, and applicants can send their applications directly to their chosen university. The Ministry stressed that Uzbekistan is interested not in restriction, but in increasing the flow of international students.
The main goals include expanding the geographical reach of international students, promoting Uzbekistan as an attractive educational destination, and ensuring sustainable growth in the export of educational services. Furthermore, each university independently determines the number of international students it accepts based on available resources, such as classroom and laboratory capacity, faculty size, dormitory availability, and other infrastructure.
Foreign applicants have been advised to use the official 'Study in Uzbekistan' platform, obtain admission requirement information directly from the chosen university, and avoid unjustified payments to intermediaries. If problems arise during the admissions campaign, applicants can file a complaint through the official appeal channels available on the platform.
