Google officially established the Googlebook notebook category this Monday, September 21st. The models already launched, produced by brands such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, use processors developed by Intel and Qualcomm.
However, MediaTek intends to join this group soon, presenting the Dimensity CX C10 Max. This chip is manufactured using TSMC's 3nm technology and features an eight-core CPU architecture.
The specifications of the new processor also include 11 GPU cores and the MediaTek 890 NPU, which achieves a performance of 55 TOPS. This capability is relevant because one of Google's requirements for the Googlebook line is having an NPU with performance equal to or greater than 45 TOPS, reflecting the focus of the new notebooks on running various artificial intelligence tasks.
Other features of the Dimensity CX C10 Max include support for LPDDR5X memory, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UFS 4.0 storage, and the ability to display two 4K screens simultaneously (although these features are supported by the chip, not all computers equipped with it will have all these capabilities).
In addition to high performance, MediaTek assures that the Dimensity CX C10 Max offers battery life that can last a full day and does not require a complex cooling system.
Although no date has been set, MediaTek informed 9to5Google that the Dimensity CX C10 will debut in a Lenovo Googlebook. Lenovo had previously announced a Googlebook based on an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor.
It is important to note that MediaTek is already active in the advanced computing segment, being a partner of Nvidia in the development of RTX Spark, a 'superchip' intended for high-performance PCs.
